Go John Trail – Sunday, September 20
Description
The Go John Trail is a popular 6 mile loop trail located in Cave Creek Regional Park. The trail is hilly, with a total 800 foot elevation gain, and it is rated as moderate on AllTrails. The trail offers wildflowers and desert terrain, beautiful views, and sadly, some evidence of wilderness burn. We will start from the trail-head at 7:00 a.m. The hike should take around 2.5 hours to complete. There is a $7.00 park entrance fee. There are bathrooms at the trail-head. Dogs must be on a leash.
What to Bring?
Bring hiking shoes, at least two liters of water, a snack, hat, and sunscreen.
Directions
Carpool: For those wishing to carpool to reduce the park entrance fee, meet in the parking lot of the Home Depot at 6:45 am sharp at the following address:
Carefree Marketplace, 4925 E. Carefree Highway, Cave Creek 85331
Trailhead: Meet at the Go John trail-head at 7:00 am sharp at the following address: 37900 E. Cave Creek Parkway, Cave Creek 85331. (From Carefree Highway in Cave Creek, go north on 32nd Street for 1.5 miles to the park entry gate. Follow the main park road to the Go John trail-head on the left.)
