Beat the Heat Road Trip to Napa Valley
The average summer high in Scottsdale is 105, the average night low is 75.
The average summer high in Napa Valley CA is 82, nights cool to 55. Fog rolls in at 8 pm each night, “Nature’s AC”.
After you endure the June, July and August warmth, would you like to Get Out of Town?
We have a California Road Trip planned, starts Sunday 9/7, through the Friday 9/12.
After the Road Trip in Northern California, you’ll want to spend another week driving down the Coast to Santa Barbara and catch the seals lounging on the beach. No reason to hurry back to 100 degrees in September.
The week's activities:
- You will hike in the Sequoia National Park, hugging trees that are over 2,000 years old.
- Then two days of bike rides on paved trails through prime Napa, Calistoga vineyards. Hike through a Redwood forest, along the rivers. Sleep in a cabin amid a 1,000 year old Redwood grove.
- While in Calistoga, maybe try one of the famous Spas?
- Or visit Sterling Winery, built on top of hill which needs a Gondola to get to?
- Or the Italian and French Castle wineries.
- Another night in Petaluma, a wine area city. Food options are tremendous. Bring a credit card.
- Finish the week in Bodega Bay CA, watching the Ravens from Alfred Hitchcock movie, kayak or paddle board on the Bay itself. Hike along the Coast, looking for whales, and maybe finish week with a ride down Route 1 Coast Road to drinks in Sausalito, then on to the Golden Gate Bridge view of San Francisco.
It gets cold on the California Coast, bring warm clothes.
